Gainesville High School won the VHSL Class 6 state baseball championship in 2025, beating Battlefield 8 to 6. It was the first state baseball title for a Prince William County public school since 1995. In the semifinal, John Miller's Cardinals came back from down 7 to 0 and won it anyway.
