Ashburn Baseball Already Drives This Direction

Independence High School plays in the Cedar Run District. That means Ashburn's newest high school buses down into Prince William County to face Battlefield, Gainesville, Patriot, Osbourn and Osbourn Park. If your son wears Tiger orange, you have already sat in that traffic on a Tuesday night in April.

The 2026 season made the point plainly. Independence went 22 and 4 in region play, shut out Western Branch 6 to 0 in the state semifinal, and lost the Class 6 final 6 to 3 to Battlefield. Battlefield is a Haymarket school. Gainesville took the same title the year before. The bats that decide Ashburn's season get swung about twenty minutes from our door.

We also see Briar Woods, Stone Bridge, Broad Run and Rock Ridge families, plus Dulles Little League and Ashburn Rebels players who want cage time that does not depend on the weather.

What Baseball Hitting Training Is Here

A baseball pitch arrives downhill. It leaves a raised mound 60 feet 6 inches away and finishes below where it started. A swing built for that plane is a different swing than the one a softball hitter needs, and most of the work we do with Ashburn players is getting bat path matched to that descent instead of fighting it.

The first session sets a baseline on HitTrax ball tracking. Exit velocity, launch angle, distance, spray chart. A Blast Motion sensor goes on the bat knob and reads bat speed, attack angle, time to impact and on-plane efficiency. From then on every round is measured against that first day, so the conversation with your son stops being about how the swing felt and starts being about what moved. Most hitters add 3 to 5 MPH of average exit velocity in the first four weeks.

Win Reality handles the part a cage cannot. Pitch recognition, sequencing, two-strike approach, and reps against arms he would not otherwise face for years. The Drive, Told Straight

Ashburn is the longest Loudoun drive on our list. It is about 23 to 24 miles, south on Route 28, and it runs 35 to 40 minutes in normal conditions. Route 28 is the choke point. Between 4:30 and 6:30 on a weekday, plan on 45.

Saturday mornings are closer to 30 minutes. Most Ashburn families we train book a weekend slot or a 7:00 pm weekday slot and let Route 28 clear first. BTD trains athletes from Ashburn at our facility on Robertson Drive in Manassas. There is no second location, and we would rather you know the real number now than find it out on your first Tuesday.

How long is the drive from Ashburn to BTD?

Thirty-five to forty minutes south on Route 28 without traffic, and up to forty-five during weekday rush. It is a real drive. Independence families are already making the same trip for Cedar Run District road games.

Which Ashburn schools do your players come from?

We train athletes from Independence, Briar Woods, Stone Bridge, Broad Run and Rock Ridge, along with middle schoolers at Watson Mountain, Farmwell Station, Trailside and Eagle Ridge who are aiming at those rosters.

My son plays Dulles Little League. Is he old enough for this?

Athletes start with us at age 8 and train through high school and competitive travel ball. Dulles Little League covers ages 4 to 16, so most of its upper divisions fit.

When should we start before spring tryouts?

Give it the winter. Ten to twelve weeks before a high school tryout is enough time for a swing change to hold under live pitching instead of falling apart the first time he sees a breaking ball.

What does he bring?

A bat, a glove and cleats. We supply everything else. Parents are welcome to stay and watch the whole hour.
